Geocaching In Morinville Alberta

Visiting & Caching!

#1
and the first one found by K&Ccache
I was visiting in Morinville for the weekend and we decided on Friday afternoon to go and grab a few caches.  The temperature was about +7 with no wind, it was a beautiful day for a walk and some outdoor activity.  The day was a little bit of driving and then a little bit of walking.  We walked on a nice paved trail to get to the first cache. The trails are used for walking, roller blading and I am not sure if biking is allowed on the trails.  The girl half of K&Ccache had her geoeyes and geosenses on high alert because she was the "finder" of the day!  We practically followed the previous finders foot tracks to this one.  The foot prints can sure be spoilers at this time of year.  Next we headed across the highway
from Morinville, there is a little lake with stocked fish, there were a few fishermen on the lake this afternoon but they were paying no mind to us.  There were staring down their fishholes.  They are the kind of muggles we like!  We were walking in pretty deep snow at this point but that did not stop us, we trecked on!  It was an easy find for K&Ccache!

#2 find by the lake

The road to get close into this spot was really quite soft and muddy, K&Ccache's Geomobile was very muddy, and so were we! But through thick and thin that cache has to get looked for and hopefully found!  Off to our next destination which was a bit of a walk on a nice trail through a park and then some slugging through the snow.  This one was a magnetic, but we are walking along a wooden fence?  I spot a metal post on the other side of the barb wire and I decide to crawl under the fence to go and check the post out, but I look up as I am crossing the fence and VOILA there is the cache tucked neatly up against the wood.  There was a metal disk attached to the wood for the magnetic cache to stick to.  We liked this one a lot.  We did not expect to see it on wood, but that is the name of the game, and a CO who has put some thought into hiding the cache.  A different hide makes it interesting and fun for the seekers.

#3 on the fence

This last one was by the Morinville Leagion, the memorial is dedicated to our heros who served our country.
This cache was a little tricky as well, usually when looking in a tree the cache is placed by the tree truck, this one was not, it was at the tip of the branch.

This is what the plaque reads.

DEDICATED TO SERVICEMEN, SERVICEWOMEN AND RCMP MEMBERS WHO SERVED AT HOME AND ABROAD BOER WAR - WW1 - WW 11 KOREA WAR - UN PEACEKEEPING MISSIONS - NATO MISSIONS - AFGHANISTAN WAR PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE MAY WE EVER REMEMBER THEM.

Have fun caching
