Warm Weather Geocaching In Assiniboine Forest

Happy St. Patricks Day
Clue Junior Game Cache

Saturday morning dawned to +8 C, and by midday was +19! It was such a beautiful spring day, the sky was blue the sun was shining and the birds were singing, a perfect day to out enjoying the outdoors.  We were going to try to finish the geocaches in Assiniboine Forest today, we did not finish! But I am okay with that I have enjoyed caching in the forest very much and will be sad to put it to rest. We had a little bit of a chuckle on our first find, the co ordinates were telling us that the cache should be across a fence that we could see no way around.  A woman was coming out of a zoo building and Gerry was going to ask her if it was possible to come around in the fence, I was just standing back and looking around and I spotted something! I say to him "never mind" I found it!  This one was part of the "Clue Junior Game" Now off across the highway and on to find "Beer In A Tree" this title had me puzzled since I saw it!  Well it turned out to be a beer bottle shaped tin, a Moosehead! Neat, another find by the girl half of GeoPartnerS!  Yeahhhh 2 for the girl 0 for the boy.

The next caches description said, finding the cache won't be hard but retrieving it will be! The boys geoeyes saw this one pronto and  getting it down was no problem, but now what? How to put it back in place, unless you are good at climbing trees!

Putting it back

It's thata way
We forgot to take a picture of Gers next find! This is the cache that we put Veronica the Bear Travel Bug into.  As you can see it's getting a bit warm out! There was no breeze at all in the forest and at times we were working pretty hard slugging through tall dry grass and fallen trees

We also had some water to wade through and ditches to cross! Thank goodness for rubber boots!  There is not as much water as there could be because of limited snowfall this year.  There were very few patches of snow left anywhere, what a change from the last time we cached in the forest!

Stage 1 of a multi
This is stage 1 of a multi cache, this is our first multi.  The multi stage caches are more work because, this one had 3 stages but you get to only log it as 1 find.  Not good for numbers if that is what you are after on a particular day.  We didn't mind it! This was named  Snow Fantasy.

In the neat little containers are the co ordinates to the next stage.  The stage 1 container was a figurine with a pill bottle attached to it, to hold the information.  Stage 2 was a mask which held the information to stage 3, the final and the mother load!

The dragon slayer

Look at all the jewels!

We were needing a bit of a rest at this point so what could be better then to play a little?
Playing dress up

number 3

Okay enough playing around! It's time to carry on! We are heading to pick up the last 3 caches in the Clue Jr. Game, this one is number 3!
On our next trip into the forest we will solve the mystery of the missing chocolate cake!
number 4

number 5

We managed to get 10 geocaches today but logged 8! Today we are 2 tired Cachers!  We did a lot of walking!  Here is the deer that I have been waiting to take a picture of, today we saw several of them!  It is so nice to see some wildlife.
An abandoned shelter.  We have seen a few of these in the forest in the last few months.  Two tired and thirsty cachers with sore feet and sore legs heading back to the car!  We had a very good and successful day!  I have to say again it was so nice to spend this beautiful spring day in the outdoors.

Have fun caching
